Painted of Camogli, Italy, Last Sunset of Summer captures the golden light of a summer evening, as silhouettes gather along the shoreline to watch the sun disappear beyond the horizon. Others wade and play in the water, their figures reflected in the shimmering colours of the sunset.
Inspired by the fleeting beauty of summer, this painting is a reflection on endings, presence, and the quiet art of letting go. There is something bittersweet about watching the sun set on a season you wish could last a little longer, yet perhaps part of its beauty lies in knowing it cannot.
A reminder that you don’t have to hold onto a moment for it to have mattered, and that the end of something beautiful never takes away from the beauty of having experienced it.
