I painted an Aperol Spritz because I love how bright and recognisable they are. Whenever I walk past a bar, they are often the first thing I notice; glowing orange on the tables as people sit together and enjoy the afternoon.
To me, the Aperol Spritz represents more than just a drink. It represents aperitivo: that moment of the day when, almost at the same time each evening, people begin to gather with friends, talk, share food and enjoy each other's company. I love the sense of community and togetherness that comes with it, and wanted to capture that feeling in this painting.
