I did this sketch while I was travelling in Venice, Italy. I was sitting outside the train station and this was my view at the time. A church across the way with a really beautiful dome that immediately caught my eye.
I remember doing a quick observational sketch because I didn’t want to lose the moment. I was watching boats move across the canal in front of me while I drew, and it felt like a really calm, in-between kind of moment during the journey.
This piece is just a snapshot of that time - the architecture, the movement of the water, and the feeling of being there for a short while.
