I visited Camogli in Italy and spent time lying on the beach, right in front of a row of tall, colourful buildings. They were stacked high - probably around ten floors - and each one was painted a different shade: reds, yellows, oranges, pinks. There were so many little windows, all slightly different, and they towered over the beach in such a striking way.
I couldn’t stop looking at them. Every time I turned around, I was just taken by the colours and the way they sat against the sea. I ended up painting them because I didn’t want to forget how it felt to be there, surrounded by that kind of brightness.
